Junior Cricket Thriving at Walsham Le Willows

A Landmark Season Ahead for Junior Cricket at Walsham Le Willows CC

The future of cricket is in safe hands at Walsham Le Willows Cricket Club, and 2025 is shaping up to be another landmark season for our junior section.

For the second year running, we are proudly fielding competitive teams across all four junior age groups: Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17. This continued growth reflects the enthusiasm and dedication of our young players, coaches, parents and volunteers, and shows how firmly junior cricket is now established at the heart of our club.

Our packed fixture calendar is already off to a flying start. The season began last week and both our Under 13 and Under 15 teams recorded fantastic wins in their opening fixtures. Between 6 May and 29 July, our junior teams will take part in an impressive 42 fixtures across the region, with plenty more opportunities ahead for all age groups to showcase their skills, teamwork and passion for the game.

Reflecting on the progress, Junior Section Coordinator and 2nd XI captain Ned Campbell said:

“The junior section is the heartbeat and lifeblood of our club. It’s where the future of Walsham Le Willows CC is being shaped, and we’re absolutely delighted to now be in a position where we can field competitive teams at every age group. It’s a testament to the hard work and commitment of so many people behind the scenes, and it’s fantastic to see so many young players wearing the club colours with pride.”

Junior Head Coach Adam Howe added:

“Across all of our age groups, there’s a huge amount of talent and potential. We’re seeing some really capable young cricketers coming through, and we’re excited to watch them develop and express themselves on the pitch over the course of the season. It’s not just about skills; it’s about building confidence, teamwork and a love for the game, and we’re looking forward to seeing what this group can achieve.”

The junior buzz doesn’t stop there. Friday nights remain the heartbeat of cricket at Walsham Le Willows, with over 50 children already signed up for our hugely popular All Stars (ages 5–8) and Dynamos (ages 8–11) programmes. Alongside this, Hardball junior training runs for our older juniors, meaning the ground is alive with activity as players of all ages take to the field, from first-time cricketers to those representing the club in league fixtures.

We’re immensely proud of how far our junior section has come, and of the positive, welcoming environment we continue to build. The commitment of our volunteer coaches and the support from parents and carers has been instrumental in creating opportunities for every young cricketer to get involved, whether socially or competitively.

And of course, the club bar is open on Friday evenings, making it a perfect time for families and supporters to gather, relax and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere while watching the next generation in action.

If your child is interested in joining the fun, whether they’re new to cricket or looking to develop their game, we’d love to hear from you. There’s never been a better time to get involved.
