Mike’s Round Up #1

A busy weekend for the Sports Club with Friday night kicking off with All Stars and Dynamos cricket which meant the field was buzzing with players, coaches and parents. What could be better than sitting having a drink in the lovely sunshine whilst the youngsters used up all that pent up energy around the Sports field. The evening soon turned to music as Gemma B performed to an appreciative crowd.

Saturday dawned with cricket starting at 1pm after the usual morning preparations to get the wicket and outfield ready. An amazing innings of 145* by Oli Jackson, 1st team skipper, saw Walsham home against a competitive Lakenheath side. Palpable tension for all the spectators as the winning runs were scrambled off the last ball.

A kids’ party and football on the artificial pitch were also shoehorned into the day.

Onto the evening and the 90/10 darts competition started with a good number of entrants. A total of £460.00 was raised for the Coronary Care Unit and well done to all the players and organisers.

On Sunday the youth football teams filled the fields in the morning with a lull in the afternoon before Pat’s Bingo in the evening with some lucky winners taking a few quid home.
