Walsham Le Willows CC Starts Girls Cricket Section

We are thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new Girls Cricket Section at Walsham Le Willows Cricket Club!

In recent years, we’ve seen a growing number of girls taking part in our All Stars and Dynamos programmes. It’s been fantastic to watch them discover a love for cricket, and we believe it’s vital to provide them with the opportunity to continue playing as they get older. This new section offers a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment where girls can continue their cricket journey, without the pressure of having to join senior men’s teams.

Who is it for?

Our new section is open to girls aged 8 to 13 (school years 3 to 8). Whether your daughter is completely new to cricket or already loves playing, everyone is welcome. No experience? No problem! We provide all the equipment, and our qualified coaches ensure every girl feels part of the team from day one.

When and Where?

  • When: Friday evenings at 6 pm
  • Where: Walsham Le Willows Cricket Club, Summer Road, IP31 3AH

The sessions will run alongside our existing junior activities, creating a dedicated pathway for girls who want to be part of a team, play matches, and enjoy cricket in their own way. We are also planning to continue offering girls cricket through the autumn with indoor sessions as part of the ECB dynamos programme.

Our First Tournament Outing!

Monday 4th August marked the inaugural outing of the Walsham Le Willows CC Girls Section, with the team competing in a girls’ cricket festival at Bury St Edmunds.

We’re incredibly proud of the girls’ effort and team spirit throughout the day. They played with enthusiasm, supported one another, and represented the club with pride.

The team began with a close-fought match against Mellis, narrowly missing out on a win. They bounced back strongly in a rematch with a resounding victory, and also put in a spirited performance against a combined Tuddenham/Mellis side.

It was a fantastic first outing, full of energy, smiles, and great cricket, just the start of what promises to be an exciting journey for girls’ cricket at Walsham Le Willows CC.

Join Us and Be Part of the Future

This is also the first step on the road to developing a fully-fledged Women’s Section at the club. Our long-term aim is to build a sustainable structure where girls can progress into women’s cricket, creating opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

Luke Ridding is leading the effort to establish and grow the Girls Section. If you would like to learn more or if your daughter is interested in joining, please contact Luke on 07854 916029.

Alternatively, feel free to drop by on a Friday evening and chat with us in person or send us a message on Facebook.
