Junior Cricket Success in 2025

This week sees the last fixture in what’s been a packed junior cricket schedule, as the U13s Blast team prepares for a final decisive match tomorrow evening. Since early May, 34 matches have been played on midweek evenings – a brilliant effort from players, coaches and volunteers alike.
It’s been a fantastic summer for junior cricket at Walsham Le Willows, with plenty to celebrate both on and off the pitch.
Across the U11, U13 and U15 teams, an incredible 40 different junior players have represented the club. Even more impressively, 12 of those have already stepped up to play senior cricket – a great sign for the future.
On the field, the achievements so far have been outstanding:
- The U11s, U13 Super 8s, and U15s have all won their respective leagues – a brilliant reward for their consistency and teamwork throughout the summer.
- The U11s went unbeaten, winning every single one of their games – a remarkable achievement and a testament to the hard work and spirit of the players and coaches alike.
- The U13s Blast team has one final game remaining tomorrow evening, and a victory will see them crowned league champions too – a fitting end to an exciting season.
Coaches Ned Campbell and Adam Howe highlighted the U13s’ home game against Bury as a perfect example of what the junior section has been about this season. On that evening, the team showed sheer determination to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, with every player contributing to the result. It was a performance that summed up the spirit, resilience and togetherness that has run through all of the junior teams this summer.
Special mention must go to George Macrae, who has coached the U11s in his first year since completing his coaching qualification last winter. At just 18 years old, George already has three years of senior cricket experience under his belt, and it’s been fantastic to see him growing into the coaching role with such confidence and care.
A huge thank you to all the coaches, volunteers, parents and supporters who make junior cricket happen each week. And most of all, congratulations to the players – your commitment, effort and love for the game have been brilliant to watch.
The junior section will be celebrating their success with a club outing to watch The Hundred at Edgbaston this Friday – a well-earned reward for an impressive summer.
